My childhood home has polished wooden stairs that are slippery. Moving back home, I brought my two dogs and they kept sliding and falling down them. I bought 10 of these (there's 12 stairs but the top two are massive cuz they twist) and my dogs go down the stairs super easily. It also makes them much quieter since their claws don't click as they run down them.These do NOT come with adhesion despite what's listed so invest in some velcro tape or something sturdy so they don't slip and move.I am happy with the quality. The only drawback for me is the size of them, they are very inconsistent in size. They vary up to 1/2 inch in length. I did think they were stick down, they are not. Overall they will work very good for my use.I use these for my pool, on the steps on the pavers because they get hot. They blow away easy and dont grip too well. But they are OK for what I use them forThese would be 5 stars if they adhered better. The color and size are perfect.These were a great help on vacation. My Parson's Russell at 18 has problems with vision and weak back legs. There was an 18 step steep set of stairs. We laid the treads, using 'magic tape' they never moved for all the weeks we stayed, and little Sparky used the stairs without trauma. The treads removed easily with no residue.Like the quality of the treass.I loved the color and the product itself. I put these kn the main stairs from the living room to the dinning room to help with the dirt it goes from one place to another. It does a great job at it!My only thing is it just doesn't stay in place and moves very easily. Doesnt help with a 6 and 2 yr old constantly going up and down. Cleaning wise is not that dificult but it still traps some dirt. As you can see in the picture. I just vacuumed them. But with kids you should already know having a sparkly clean bome is not an option so for me these absolutely worked. Just going to purchase some undermats stickys and vuala case closed! They def. Are worth the purchase!On the second stairs i did have to cut them since my husband made the stairway smaller (per my request) and i made them fit to the length of my stairs and i think i loved it better that size! Wish the main ones on the first pics were as long! I'm still happy either way! Great buy?Btw thats how good they trap dirt! One set cleaned the other not yet lolLong story short:-Wipe steps down with damp towel before placing mats down-If cutting, glue trimmed edges if you cut it to prevent losing threadsSo we are going to be selling out house next year and the staircase looked atrocious since it was carpeted over in the 90s and in 02 when we bought it, we removed it and left it bare wooden steps which looked really rough and gouged etc. Fast forward to this summer, stairs have been puttied to fill the gaps, sanded to smooth even, and painted over. No fancy clear coat just paint for stairs/decks.These do stay in place but under certain conditions. Do not install these on dusty stairs because you just put a layer of dust between the contact points which will basically cause it to slip. After giving the new painted steps a wipe with a damp towel and left to dry, these stayed perfectly.The hard part was the bottom 3 steps spiral to the side at a corner of the house so the full step size is not happening. These can be trimmed but expect 'fuzzies' everywhere. My suggestion and what I did was to pull out/cut as many loose strands after trimming the mat and then hit it with a dab of super glue. Look up 'Loctite Super Glue, Ultra Liquid Control 0.14 oz (1647358)' its like $4 and absorbs/ hardens the trimmed edge so you wont lose any more pieces. Just becareful how you place it when leaving it to dry so you dont glue it to something else.This product was excellent and good quality and arrived 2 days early . Full marks for customer serviceMy aging pup was finding the stairs more and more trepidatious even though I had placed some clear plastic ‘placemats’ on my hardwood stairs last year. They had helped initially but a year or so later, it wasn’t enough for him. So I bought these. As there was no adhesive, I was anxious about their safety and their effectiveness. However we thought we’d give them a try.Well, Higgins now runs up and down the stairs with no concern, as if he is still a youngster. And there seems to be no movement for dog or man when they use the stairs with the mats.These stair treads are really good! I have 2 dogs for whom I bought the treads. They really stay surprisingly well in place, they just move slightly when the big boy runs up and down quickly but it doesn't bother us. They provide perfect traction for them and us. We like that we can take them off and shake them out and the stairs are unharmed. Had to buy 14 and only need 7 but if we redo the stairs to the basement we can use those!I had ordered these in Nov 2018 and was very happy with my purchase. I liked them because they provided grip for my aging dog but still looked good and had some plush to them. After 2 and a half years, needed to re-order as they weren’t staying in place anymore (rubber bottom was wearing). I hit “re-order” in my Amazon order history thinking they would be identical. They arrived yesterday and I noticed the difference right away: they have no “shag” to them. (See the difference in photos) I am keeping them because I need them for Christmas visitors who need sure-steps because of disabilities but the quality was not the same.We got this because we live in a townhouse. We have real hardwood floors so it's slippery to begin with (with socks on). Our dogs kept slipping up and down the staircase, which is dangerous for the dogs and REALLY loud for our neighbours. This helped kept our dogs quiet by going up and down safely. This also goes for my daughter who is two. Whenever she had socks on, it was pretty dangerous on the staircase but because of this, she's able to go up and down fine.
